A Message from the Principal

Dear Marguerita Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether your family is returning to Marguerita or joining us for the first time, I am delighted to welcome you to another exciting year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

My name is Thomas Kohout, and I am honored to continue serving as the principal of Marguerita Elementary School. This school year marks the beginning of my 29th year in the Alhambra Unified School District and my fifth year serving as principal of Marguerita. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving AUSD as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, and I remain incredibly grateful to work alongside outstanding students, families, and staff every day.

For nearly three decades, one belief has guided my work: every child deserves to feel known, valued, challenged, and supported. At Marguerita, we are committed to helping every student grow academically while also developing confidence, character, resilience, and a genuine love of learning. Guided by our R.O.C.K. values—Respect, Ownership, Cooperation, and Kindness—we strive to create a school where students feel safe, connected, and inspired to achieve their personal best.

This year, we will continue building on the strong foundation we have established together. Through high-quality instruction, early intervention, positive behavior supports, student wellness, and meaningful partnerships with families, we are committed to ensuring that every Husky has the opportunity to thrive. We believe that when schools and families work together, students experience their greatest success.

As both an educator and a parent, I understand the trust families place in their child's school each day. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your child's educational journey. My door is always open, and I encourage you to stay connected, ask questions, share ideas, and partner with us throughout the school year.
